My mom’s dog randomly started doing this one day as a pup. they didn’t train him to do it, but they encouraged it. We used to make our dog sit and wait to be told to eat because she would knock the bowl from our hands before we even got it to the floor. not once did we deprive her of food when she was learning. she just got lots of praise and an extra treat with her dinner when she did wait

My cats pat us with their paws if they want attention or grab the side of our face to give us kisses this was not what we taught them they just do it. My dog does this and no one has trained him on purpose. Sometimes they just get reinforced by accident
