My cat accidentally scratched my eye just a month ago. I was nervous as ever to tell the doctors what happened because I was afraid they’d suggest getting her declawed. Luckily, they understood. I didn’t declaw her. I went to my eye doctor, got an exam, and got some antibiotics. I gave her some extra love because it was a freak accident, and that was the end of it. Get it scratching posts that it likes (carpet, twine, wood, cardboard) and put catnip in it, train them, get “claw caps” put on by a vet, trim the outer part of the claw that is actually a nail. All of these are much better options, if you can’t handle a cat scratching then don’t get the cat.
