My brother never had his done and no matter what he did hed get infections so it was decided when he was 5 or 6 to have it done and I’ll tell you this its better as a baby than older he woke up crying that they hurt his junk so yes sometimes its better safe than sorry in my opinion. You don’t cut through bone to declaw… there’s a ligament holding the claw in place and veterinarians simply sever the ligament either with a laser or some other means. Done young, and through a trusted veterinarian, declawed cats do great. If a cat being declawed means they get to keep their forever home, then by all means, I support it.
